It’s Hard: Hayden adds an important coda. Advertising is more art than science. And sometimes even a great team with a great concept that’s carefully executed will produce a spot that falls flat. While he’s happy to take credit for the brilliant 1984, Hayden notes that the very next year he headed a creative team that produced a spot called Lemmings that was so disastrously unsuccessful that it almost killed Apple.  Here’s a link to Hayden’s first-person story of perhaps the most spectacular failure in Super Bowl advertising history.
